ExplainerEOR vs contractors
When to engage international talent as contractors and when to employ them through an Employer of Record.
What is an Employer of Record (EOR)?
An Employer of Record is a company that legally employs people on your behalf in a country where you don't have a local entity. It runs local payroll, contracts and statutory requirements, while you manage the person's day-to-day work.
How much does an EOR cost?
EOR providers usually charge a fee per employee per month, on top of salary and employer contributions. Fees vary by provider and country. GLOYEE shows prices as "Not verified yet" until they are confirmed, so always ask providers for a written quote.
How does GLOYEE matching work?
We use rule-based matching on your answers. Providers are scored on country coverage first, then your top priority, budget and timeline. The three highest scores are shown with a one-line reason for each match.
Is GLOYEE free?
Yes. The quiz, matches and comparison are free for companies hiring internationally.
What do you do with my details?
We store your quiz answers and contact details to show your matches. We only share them with the providers you are matched with if you tick the consent box. See our privacy page for details.
Should I use an EOR or contractors?
Contractors invoice you as independent businesses; an EOR employs people locally with payroll and benefits. If someone works like an employee, an EOR can reduce misclassification risk. Take local advice for your situation.
Do I need a local entity to hire abroad?
Not with an EOR. The provider acts as the legal employer, so you can hire before (or instead of) opening your own entity.
Which providers does GLOYEE compare?
Currently Deel, Remote, Rippling, Multiplier, Oyster, Papaya Global and RemoFirst. Any fact we haven't confirmed is marked "Not verified yet".
